Is it a boy or girl?

Status update: We're 19 weeks today and baby is the size of a mango. That's 6.0 inches, from crown to rump, and 8.5 oz. Vernix Caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid.

In other news, I can’t stop thinking about the upcoming big ultrasound this Thursday, April 30. Our friends seem to be as excited as we are too. So, I started wondering what the old wives’ tales and internet resources would tell us about the sex of the baby. Really, it’s just entertaining. Check this out:

Tvoybaby.com: Girl
Thebump.com Chinese gender chart: Girl
Laboroflove.com: Boy
Sexratio.com: Girl
Babyman.com: Boy
Heart rate: Girl (the heart rate has been 162 and 153 at our appointments)
Ring test: Side to side says Girl!
Drano: Didn’t try it because I don’t have any Drano. ;>
Mother’s intuition: I still think it’s a boy.
Father’s intuition: He won’t guess! He said he’ll tell me on Friday- ARGH!
Friends & family predictions: At first they all said girl and recently lots have been saying boy.

Girl Old Wives Tales:
-had morning sickness
-carrying high
-carrying weight in hips & butt
-leg hair is growing the same
-Will isn't gaining weight
-craving sweets & fruits
-heartbeat
-prefer sleeping on my right side
-acne

Boy Old Wives Tales:
-headaches
-no real mood swings
-my hair is looking good :)
-left breast is larger than right, LOL

Well, I guess we’ll see in a few days - I hope!

  1. Did you do the ring test? You take your wedding ring and string it up on a string and then hold the string over your belly. The direction of the circle (clockwise or counter) will determine the sex. Mine was right :)! Can't wait til Thursday! Mandi
