This morning at our 15 week appointment we heard the heartbeat for the first time. During the 11 week ultrasound, we saw the movement of the heart beating and knew the heart rate was 162 but didn't get to hear it. Today, the fetal heart rate was a strong 152 or 153, per the nurse, and it was beautiful!
This week the baby is 4 inches, which is about the size of an orange. The baby's legs now outmeasure the arms, all four limbs have functional joints, and he or she is wiggling like crazy down, but I shouldn't be able to feel movements for a few more weeks. The next appointment will be at 19 1/2 weeks and will include the BIG Ultrasound. How exciting!
